FInancial times created in 2021 a list of the most brilliant bookshops in the world. tronsmo bookshop is one of them!

“The best bookstore in the world”, according to Allen Ginsberg. Decorated with quirky, colourful artworks by artists such as illustrator Anette Moi, the bright, light-filled two-storey shop is stocked with an alternative collection of books – ranging from Norwegian bildungsromans to feminist texts and queer literature – comics, music, postcards, films and more.

Even though it’s situated in a neighbourhood teeming with bookshops, Tronsmo still manages to stand out from the crowd. As they put it, you won’t “bang your head on advertising posters or stumble across stacks of bestsellers as soon as you walk in the door”.

At Tronsmo you will find American and European classics, Swedish series, European series in Danish translation, manga, American underground and indie, and of course all new Norwegian series.

We often have signings with well-known and newly established series creators. The ceiling and walls are decorated with drawings and greetings from the many Norwegian and international stars who have visited, and downstairs we have rotating exhibitions with original drawings.

We are also happy to help school and public libraries build up collections
